Corneotherapy-A holistic approach to skin

Recently at Talking Beauty we have started wearing new T-shirts as part of our uniform.

On the back of our T-shirts, it says, “Your Expert Corneotherapist” This has prompted many questions from all of you asking what is a Corneotherapist? So, I thought it might be good for me to explain what Corneotherapy is and why it’s the most effective way to treat skin.

Corneotherapy is a skin treatment methodology based on the repair and the maintenance of the Stratum Corneum which is the outer layer of your skin. It serves as a barrier between the body and the environment. Once we repair the skin barrier defence systems the skin will return to homeostasis and calm. This in turn allows for replenishment and repair in the cells and deeper layers of the skin.

Why are Corneotherapists different to other skin care providers such as Beauty Therapists?

The methodology of Corneotherapy requires a greater understanding of the skin than established beauty therapist training provides as its focus is the repair and maintenance of the skin barrier defence system rather than the simple application of moisturisers.

The goal of the Corneotherapist is to address the cause of the skin conditions, not merely treat the symptoms.

What type of training does a Corneotherapist require to be competent?

In addition to our general beauty therapy qualification and experience with professional skin treatment practice, at Talking Beauty we have extended knowledge giving us a greater understanding of the skin. All our expert skin therapists have undergone many posts graduate courses to give us a much greater understanding of how to treat skin disorders.

Once your skin is being maintained by a corneotherapist we will assess and analyse your skin condition and develop a personalized skin care regime based on your skin’s specific needs. At Talking Beauty, we use a holistic approach that considers of various factors such as lifestyle, environmental factors, and skin concerns to determine the best course of treatment.

Once you are under the care of a corneotherapist we will work on restoring and maintain the integrity of your skin barrier, reducing inflammation, and improving skin health using a combination of topical products, lifestyle modifications and other therapeutic techniques to help your skin bounce back to health.

If you would like to book an appointment with a corneotherapist today call Talking Beauty today 9819 0693 or book a Skin Health Plan and Treatment online at www.talkingbeauty.com.
