Collagen Induction Therapy (C.I.T)
If you’re already using a home roller then you would have some knowledge on Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT and would have seen the benefits for yourself. For those of you who are new to the world of rollers, you should totally get one and this is why…
Did you know that our body naturally slows the production of collagen around the age of 25? Wow! That seems so early doesn’t it? By age 30 years, our collagen levels will drop an average of 1-2% every year. By the time we reach the age of 40 we may have lost 10-20% of our collagen, and by age 50 lost 20-40% and so forth. But don’t panic, we can help and this is where CIT becomes a big game player in the beauty world.
What is it?
CIT uses very fine stainless steel needles to create ‘micro channels’ in the top layer of our skin (epidermis), which in turn instigates the regeneration of our cells. Simply put, our skin has the ability to heal itself and once we have rolled the skin, the regeneration process begins. CIT naturally stimulates collagen and elastin meaning our skin becomes plumper and tighter reducing the appearance of lines. As well as this our skin texture becomes smooth and supple without any artificial or abrasive interference.
Our in salon CIT treatment is a quick and easy technique with little downtime. You don’t have to worry about spending a week hiding under the covers after this treatment! By the next day you can use some mineral make up to hide the slight pink tinge that may remain. Over the next week your skin will experience a few changes and we will guide you through the ‘do’s and don’ts’ and before you know it you will be seeing the most amazing results.
Who can have it and what does it achieve?
Most people are suitable for CIT. It’s not just for fine lines and wrinkles but is great for scarring and uneven skin tones too. It will give you stronger healthier skin, a soft and even surface texture, reduce pore size and help you to be the best version of yourself. Dermal needling is the only rejuvenation treatment that maximises penetration of essential cell nutrients as well as maximizing the release of growth factors in the skin which keeps the epidermal integrity intact in the process. It’s amazing!
What does it feel like?
It mostly feels a bit scratchy on the skin and depending on what areas we are treating, our in salon CIT can be adjusted to precise depths in the skin, as some areas can be a bit more sensitive than others.
What is the downtime?
Ok, so we have to keep in mind that we are putting fine needles into the skin in order for the regeneration to begin, so you’re not going to get off completely free! But believe me, as I personally have had a course of CIT, as I mentioned earlier you don’t have to go incognito for a week. No Samantha Jones here!
Your skin will begin to feel quite warm and after your treatment we will apply some cool compresses to calm your skin down. Most skin will look and feel like mild sunburn at first but by the next day this has already begun to dissipate. Your skin can feel a bit prickly for a few days but it won’t be sore or tender which is a big difference compared to other more evasive and more expensive treatments out there. Around days 5-7 you may notice some flaky skin and we will get you back in the salon for a treatment to help with that. Finally, we will give you a bit of new homecare structure to make the process run smoothly and maximise your treatment outcome.
How many treatments?
For best results we will plan three treatments for you which will be six weeks apart. Before we start your course in the salon let’s have a chat about your skin concerns and expectations as we want to make sure we have the right foundation for optimum results. We will need to have a look at your homecare routine and set you up with some simple products and your own home roller for at least four weeks before your first treatment. We will spend some time with you explaining how to use your roller and care for it, then once you are rolling at home you will have a bit of an idea as to our in salon treatment.
We want to achieve the best results for you and because no two skins are the same we will tailor make a programme just for you. We really love this treatment and there is no risk of damage to the skin. All of the Talking Beauty therapists have had thorough training in regards to skin needling and are here to offer you the best for your skin, give you the best advice and support you to your greatest skin ever. It sounds exciting doesn’t it?
