Have you ever noticed how your skin starts to feel dry, dehydrated and even become red and irritated during winter? Eczema and dermatitis are often exacerbated too.
With the lack of humidity, cold winds and a sudden drop in temperature, we crank up the heating and stand under hot showers to get warm. Our skin really doesn’t like it. We need to give it some extra TLC during these cold months.
Most of us, especially those prone to dry skin, need to tweak our home care during winter in order to stop our skins from a sudden freak out. We love having Dermaviduals in our salon. It allows us to easily adjust your home care routine to make getting through winter a bit easier for you. It’s as easy as adding in extra lipids such as Linseed or Boswellia to your customised serum or blended moisturiser. If your skin is really suffering, we might suggest your own oil blended serum, for example with Jojoba, Avocado and Rosehip oil, full of wonderful omegas. In fact we have so many good lipids on hand that we can support your skins barrier all year round.
During winter we will often recommend to our clients to try “layering” their products. Our absolute go to is Lotion N. We LOVE this product, it’s our “lipids in a bottle” a great little rescue remedy which is essential to have on hand, especially during winter. You can even use it all over your body! On top of the lotion N we layer customised serums, oils, moisturisers and even our luxurious Vitamin Cream Mask. Of course I haven’t forgotten the queen of protection for extremely dry skin, Oleogel Plus. If you’re already using any of these winter savers, ask us how you can layer it with something else to really make your skin look hydrated and dewy when you wake up in the morning. There is no greater feeling than starting off your day with soft and supple skin, right?!
Also remember to take a look at your diet during winter to make sure you are getting enough Omegas internally. Oily fish, nuts, whole grains, avocado and flaxseed can really help. If you’re concerned that you’re not getting enough Omegas internally, then ask us about our fantastic Neurospark tablets. They provide the “Rolls-Royce” of omega 3’s and are very rich in DHA.
So as you can see, there is no need to suffer from winter skin. Make an appointment or pop in for a winter skin assessment and leave the rest to us…
